In 1999 Palmyra had been granted a six year project by the Indo Canada Environment Facility (ICEF), New Delhi with an outlay of 9.6 crores of Indian Rupees. ICEF is a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of Canada. The aim of the project was the Rehabilitation of Integrated Tank Management Systems in the Kalliveli Watershed in the Villupuram District of Tamil Nadu. This project is successfully concluded on 31 October 2005.
